THE ST. Andrew Business and Professional Women's Club held a classy Wine and Cheese party recently on the lawns of the Red Bones Cafe in St Andrew. The function was the club's fund-raising activity for this year. It also doubled as an art exhibit where paintings by Joshua Higgins were on sale.
Guests were treated to a variety of cheeses including Maasdammer, Brie, Blue de Gravin and Caraway. For those who wished to add a little fruit to their plates, there were slices of American apple, watermelon and pineapple wedges as well as grapes. Boy, were there grapes! The grapes were presented as a centrepiece and so realistic was it, that some patrons did not know it was for eating!
As guests chatted under the starry night viewing the paintings, sweet blues played softly in the background. Those in attendance included president of the club Mrs. Monica McNeil; patron, Mr. William Clarke, managing director of Bank of Nova Scotia; general manager of City of Kingston Co-operative Credit Union, Brenda Cuthbert and Horace Clarke.
The proceeds from the event will go toward the club's Scholarship Fund. For the past two years, girls from schools such as St. Hugh's, High, Charlie Smith Comprehensive High and Oberlin High have benefited by having their examination fees paid.
