We need more Adams

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THERE IS a lot of talk about moving Senior Supt. Adams, but I have one word - "foolishness."

Dr. Phillips or Commissioner Forbes are not on the streets to face these gunmen. They are not even the ones targeted by these gunmen. How often have they been trapped or pinned down by gunshots like the rest of us? Who in Jamaica believe that the money-grabbing policemen care a about the rest of us? They will sell their mothers if you can pay.

It is time people who just sit down around a desk far from what is happening in this country, stop making decisions for the rest of us. Yes, move Adams but give us our own guns. Now we really know why Mr. MacMillan is not the Police Commissioner. It's because we don't want real crime-fighters. Tell the Commissioner or Dr. Phillips to come to Spanish Town and go past the bus terminus or close to Mother's and see what is happening.

Let them talk foolishness, we need more Adams. Punish him when he is wrong but not otherwise.

I am, etc.,
