THE EDITOR, Sir:
WE ARE saddened at heart as a result of the rate at which our nation's children are being killed.
Our concern and sympathy go out to the mothers namely, Sharon Thomas, mother of the three-year-old twins and her 15-year-old daughter who was pregnant, Maureen Land, who lost her 13-year-old daughter at a birthday party where many other children were also shot and injured. We have also learnt that a seven-month-old infant was shot and killed in his/her great grandmother's arms; many other mothers have lost their children through crime and violence.
When will all this end? When will these heartless persons realise that the sacredness of children's lives must be taught and respected everywhere? We are calling on all other women's group to let us join in prayer for these mothers who are mourning for their children, our children.
We may not be able to meet them but we are saying mothers (and fathers too) you are not alone in this, we care about you, we share your grief, we mourn with you. Take courage from our Lord Jesus Christ. He promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us and He has never gone back on His promise. "Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." He will comfort you.
