$150,000 bail set for JUTC insp.
published: Thursday | November 14, 2002

BAIL HAS been set at $150,000 for Patrick Johnson, a Jamaica Urban Transit Co. inspector, who has been charged with vehicular manslaughter following the death on Friday of a National Transport Co-operative Society bus conductor known only as "Mickey".

Mr. Johnson was in a JUTC bus which struck "Mickey" and he has been relieved of his duties at the JUTC, pending the outcome of investigations. The police said yesterday that bail was offered, with one or two sureties, during yesterday's bail hearing at the Corporate Area Criminal Court Half-Way-Tree.

According to reports, "Mickey" was struck and later pronounced dead on Friday, after he stepped in front of a number 52 bus which moved from its parked position in South Parade, downtown Kingston.
