Investigate conductor's death!
published: Saturday | November 16, 2002

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WITH PAIN in my heart I am writing to you from the United States about the death of my brother, Miguel Reid (Mickey), which was allegedly caused by the negligence of someone who left a JUTC public passenger bus unattended.

I demand that the proper authorities of the Jamaican Government in which I have confidence, launch a thorough investigation into his gruesome death.

The bus not only took the life of a brother, son, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend, but also it took a father of a five-year-old girl who depended on him to provide for her, not only financially, but emotionally and physically.

Miguel Reid (Mickey) was the eldest of six children to Delorise Squire (Verna) who had to on Friday, November 8, view her sons' lifeless body with crushed intestines and legs. He was on his regular job as a conductor, and was loved by many.

I pray to God that no one intentionally did this vicious crime and hope that my brother's death will be a lesson to others who operate motor vehicles at large. This could have happened to anyone. Again I strongly ask for a thorough investigation of this matter as it will help bring peace to my family and friends.

A troubled and sleepless sister.

I am, etc.,
