HELLSHIRE and Passagefort registered identical 2-0 wins over Southboro and Watson Grove respectively as action continued in the Portmore Division Two football league played at the Passagefort playfield yesterday.
At the Ironside playing field, Racing United and Gregory Park shared two goals following their 1-1 draw, while Whilst Westmeade clinched Greater Portmore 1-0 in the venue's other game.
In the feature match, Enos Chambers got both goals for Passagefort, netting in the 48th and 90th minutes.
The game, controlled by referee Gary Murphy and aided by his lone assistant Norman Binns was characterised by poor movement on and off the ball, and at the half the score read 0-0.
On resumption, the Passagefort team strung a couple of passes together and looked a bit more purposeful in attack. They were rewarded almost immediately when Chambers slotted home from a corner.
Watson Grove went in search of the equaliser almost immediately, building several counter attacks down the flanks, but to no avail.
Jason Grant, coach of Passagefort was obviously elated about his team's performance. "I am very happy, we worked hard for this victory," he said.
"It just goes to show that the team lived up to their potential," added the coach. Only four of his players are over 20.
Losing coach Paul Forte of Watson Grove was not disappointed.
"We have to pay to learn. They played their own game. We will just have to go home and do our home work," he said.
