José Marti to host 'Best of St Catherine Trade Show'

SPANISH TOWN:

THE JOSÉ Marti High School in St. Catherine is once again the venue for the staging of the 2nd annual 'Best of St. Catherine Trade Show' scheduled for November 29 to December 1.

The three-day trade show and food festival, organised by the St. Catherine Chamber of Commerce, is expected to be much bigger than last year's show which was a test run, according to the organisers.

President of the Chamber, Rudolph Green, said that the show this year will be more of a world class showpiece of the best of St. Catherine.

Urging residents of the parish to come out and enjoy a showcase of commerce and culture, Mr. Green said this is the first of its kind in the 'first city'.

The organisers promise a night of crab and roast fish, with music by Merritone Disco on Friday night. On Saturday, it will be like a Linstead Market affair with discounts on all produce.

Those who love the traditional food will be able to enjoy ackee and saltfish, 'run down', fry fish and steam fish. Sunday is dubbed 'Nyammins Day', Mr. Green said, and gospel lovers will have the time of their life with a strong line up of gospel acts.

The kids will also have their party on Sunday with cultural presentations and competitions from various schools in St. Catherine.

He said everybody will have something to gain from this year's trade show, as the organisers, made up of several businessmen, have put together a $250,000 full-house bingo for Friday night and ticket holders could win up to $100,000 in prize money.
