Ja to take part in ten CAC sports

JAMAICA WILL be represented in ten sports at the 19th Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games set for November 23-December 7 in El Salvador and Puerto Rico.

The island will be represented in squash, badminton, shooting, table tennis, boxing, cycling, football, track and field, swimming and field hockey. Competition in field hockey will take place in Puerto Rico.

Several of the athletes named in a Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) release wore the national colours to the Commonwealth Games last August in Manchester, England.

Members of the Jamaica contingent will start leaving the island tomorrow for the start of competition on Saturday.

Executive director of the Institute of Sports, Clayton Solomon, will be Chef de Mission. He will be assisted by Stanley Beckford.

TEAMS

SQUASH: Females - Karen Anderson, Marlene West, Gillian Binnie, Melissa Lue-Yen and Samantha Templer. Males - James Bullock, Steve Smith, Warren Burrowes, Wayne Burrowes and Ronald Prescod. Manager - Noel McKreith.

BADMINTON: Females - Nigella Saunders, Terry Walker. Males - Bradley Graham, Albert Myles, Alexander Haddad and Charles Pyne. Manager - Kingsley Ford.

SHOOTING: Female - Valrie Newman.

Males - Keith Hammond, Ronald Brown, Warren Blake, Anthony Johnson. Manager: Patrick Cabey.

TABLE TENNIS: Michael Hyatt, Nigel Webb, Peter Moo-Young and Darryl Strachan. Manager - Marcia Brown, coach - Donald Salmon.

BOXING: Kerron Speid, Tsetsi Davis, Sheldon Rudolph, Rudolph Hedge. Manager - Cedric Morrison, coach - Barrington Graham.

CYCLING: Female - Iona Wynter.

Males - Ricardo Lynch, Horace McFarlane, Tinga Turner and Oneil Samuels. Manager - Arthur Tenn.
