RBTT celebrates achieving Bank of the Year
published: Saturday | November 23, 2002

Daviot Kelly, Staff Reporter

ACHIEVING THE status of Bank of the Year is no mean feat and Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (RBTT) did not treat it as such when this week it threw a fine cocktail party at the Hilton Kingston Hotel. The bank received the award from the influential paper The Banker, a subsidiary of the London-based Financial Times.

Honoured guest of the evening was Governor-General His Excellency Sir Howard Cooke. Other guests included the staff of RBTT and other banking entities and the media.

Managing director and chief executive officer of RBTT Jamaica Limited Amrit Sinanan lauded the staff for their hard work in aiding the growth of the company. He expressed deep appreciation to the stakeholders and depositors for the trust and confidence they have placed in the company.

The company spared no expense in saying thanks as evidenced everything from the lovely buffet to the ice sculpture with the RBTT initials carved into it. The dimly-lit ballroom was bathed in a sea of blue laser light, and there was quality entertainment. Peter Ashbourne and the lovely Karen Smith thrilled the audience with their cabaret performance.

The bank received Bank of the Year in recognition of the growth in assets, innovative products and services as well as the upgrading of technology systems.
