G2K holds retreat to elect new officers
published: Saturday | November 23, 2002

GENERATION 2000 (G2K), the group of young professionals aligned to the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), will on Sunday hold a retreat to elect new officers for the organisation.

The retreat will be held in Kingston, however, vice president of G2K, Dr. Ronald Robinson said the location has not yet been decided on.

According to a release from the group, the meeting will also be used to discuss the focus and general direction of the organisation, especially in light of a marked increase in the number of applications for membership it has received.

Dr. Robinson told The Gleaner that the membership for the group now stands at about 1,000. With more members likely to be admitted soon, he noted that the meeting will also focus on working through ways of involving the total membership in the organisation's mission.

Also on Sunday's agenda will be a detailed analysis of the October 16 general election and the role the group will play in the upcoming local government election.

G2K played a major role in the JLP's election campaign, through its efforts to research and formulate policy positions as well as the support it gave to candidates running on the party's ticket.
