FAST must make up its mind

THE EDITOR, Sir:
THIS ORGANISATION called FAST (Families Against State Terrorism) needs to make a choice. Does it want to 'powder' the murderous criminals, or does it want them to be dealt with? You cannot have it both ways.
These are unparalleled times we are going through in Jamaica today. The norm now is to read of quadruple murders on any given day. If we hear of a single killing, we do not bat an eye. Four innocent persons gunned down in Spanish Town, followed by more of the same in other parts of that same city, then on to Harbour View. When does FAST think enough is enough?
I say to them, it is past time to get tough with these wanton, ruthless, murderers. They are a scourge, and must be dealt with. I would encourage FAST to look at our local situation, and remember that Amnesty International lives far away, in a different world. Again, I say, that was then, and this is now. Today we are dealing with a different breed of killers. They are merciless, evil, wicked, and without remorse. We have to deal with them differently.
I say to Senator Golding, and his leader, join with the government to fight this scourge. Suggest solutions, not just criticise. If you believe what the government is offering is inadequate, then put your two cents worth on the table. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.
While we still can, let us join hands and rescue Jamaica from the quagmire it finds itself in.
