JAMAICA'S INFLATION level for October was 0.7 per cent, an increase over the level in the two previous months.
This data was stated in the Consumer Price Index Bulletin released by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica. It reveals that the all Jamaica "All Group" Consumer Price Index for October 2002 was 1539.2, an increase of 0.7 per cent over the index recorded for September 2002.
The rate of inflation for August and September was 0.4 per cent for each month. Additionally, the rate of inflation for the fiscal year to date is 4.8 per cent, while the calendar year to date rate of inflation is 5.4 per cent.
A look at the regional indices shows increases for all three regions 'Kingston Metropolitan Area' 0.9 per cent 'Other Towns' 0.9 per cent and 'Rural Areas' 0.4 per cent.
For the month of October, all groups recorded higher indices than in September except the index for the group 'Transportation.' The Index for the group 'Transpor-tation' declined by 0.2 per cent largely the result of a reduction in the price of airline tickets.
