WESTERN BUREAU:
JAMAICAN INTERNATIONAL defenders Ian 'Pepe' Goodison and Robert Scarlett will have to wait at least another round of matches before they can represent their clubs in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League.
Up to Monday afternoon, the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) was still to receive the clearances it had sought from the overseas clubs which own their playing rights.
The JFF's Competition Committee chairman, Burchell Gibson, said on Monday that they had requested the clearances on behalf of the players' local clubs but had not received any answers.
Goodison, who captained the national senior team in their historic 2-1 win over Japan in the 1998 World Cup in France, played at English Third Division Club Hull City for the past two seasons and is reported to be heading to Montego Bay-based Seba United.
Scarlett, who had a short stint with Russian Premier League club Spartak Moscow is headed back to his East Kingston club Harbour View but needs the clearance before he can turn out.
Interestingly, Seba United and Harbour View played to a 1-1 draw in Sunday's first set of matches in the second round of the NPL.
