Wolmer's Reynard White goes up for a shot during his team's KFC Under-16 schoolboy basketball game against Dunoon at the National Stadium on Tuesday. Wolmer's won 103-37. - Ian Allen/Staff Photographer ANDI SMITH and Romar Allen racked up 25 points apiece to lead the Wolmer's Under-19 team to their fifth straight win in the KFC schoolboy basketball competition at the National Stadium Courts on Tuesday.
Registering scores 18-10, 39-30 and 57-40 at the end of each quarter Wolmer's dominated the game from the start and in the end defeated Dunoon 75-48.
The Wolmer's Under-16s were also in top form. They continued their undefeated run by thrashing the younger Dunoon side 103-37.
FOCUS ON NEXT YEAR
"We're not going to make it to the next round. I'm sure we won't and after our performances the best thing to do is focus on next year," said Dunoon's coach, Kevin Herbert.
Dunoon's senior team has won two games, and lost three while the younger side has won only one and lost three.
"This team is different from the one last year and a lot of the players now don't have the experience. We haven't played enough games and the league is too short.
"We're just using this season as practice for next season because we realise we can't go through. Hopefully, by then we would have learned enough to get back on our feet and maybe reach the semi-finals like we had in the past three to four years," Herbert said.
Wolmer's coach Howard Harvey remains intoxicated by victory but still thinks there is room for his players to grow.
"We're trying to get more players involved in the offence. We have five really good players so we're trying to build a better team by involving the rest some more. We're winning but we can still be a better team," he said.
