Water quality worries residents
published: Wednesday | December 4, 2002

LLUIDAS VALE:

RESIDENTS OF Lluidas Vale, St. Catherine are becoming increasingly concerned about the state of the water coming from their taps. Recently, the water has been observed to have a yellowish colour with a faintly fowl smell. This condition is even more pronounced whenever it rains.

Fuelling speculates that it may be due to a poor filtration system. There have been cases of gastroenteritis in the community and the local clinic has reported that a number of persons with rashes are turning up for treatment.

The President of the Lluidas Vale All-Age School's Parent-Teachers Association (PTA), Lorna Allen, has expressed concern on the short and long term effects this could have on the students. She, along with other residents, are calling on the authorities to speedily address the situation.
