published: Tuesday | December 10, 2002

By Anthony Foster, Freelance Writer

DACOSTA Cup champions Rusea's Comprehensive are due in Kingston today for tomorrow's first leg of the Olivier Shield play-offs.

According to coach Anthony Williams they are seeking to get a 'feel' of the match venue at the Tony Spaulding Complex before the game.

"We will be trying to get a chance to train on the field," Anthony 'Follies' Williams told The Gleaner yesterday.

Meanwhile Norman Manley's coach Alrick Clarke said yesterday his team's preparations are right on target for the game which kicks off at 3:00 p.m. The Manning Cup champions are confident they will take home their third Olivier Shield title.

"The preparation is going great, we are training hard and the guys are responding very well," Clarke said.

"Apart from two players who are down with the flu and a few minor injuries, which should not prevent anyone from playing 90 minutes every thing is going well," he added.

Clarke said his boys did not look fluent in the Manning Cup final against Wolmer's but that the top priority in training right now. The second leg of the Olivier Shield will be played at Jarrett Park on Saturday.
