JAMAICA IS one of the top three honeymoon destinations for Americans, according to a survey by Modern Bride magazine.
In the survey to determine the world's top 10 honeymoon destinations, Jamaica ranked behind Hawaii and Mexico, but above Tahiti, Las Vegas and Florida, the magazine stated. The magazine's sixth annual honeymoon survey published in its December to January issue was conducted among major travel agents across the United States.
Modern Bride chief editor Antonia van der Meer said the magazine, "helps all couples make their honeymoon dream a reality, whether their number one priority is scuba diving, skiing, partying or sunning."
It also features specialised top 10 lists for specific honeymoon requirements.
Among these lists Jamaica ranged high among the 'Wildest Places to Party' and getting the 'Biggest Bang for Your Buck'.
Modern Bride found that the average American honeymoon costs US$3,719 and lasts eight days. It also found that 46 per cent of honeymooners will stay at a resort, 29 per cent at a large hotel, and 24 per cent at a small hotel.
Almost 20 per cent of honeymooners will take a cruise for their honeymoon and eight per cent of couples had a destination wedding with an average of 46 guests, the magazine found.
