Four promoted to Asst Commissioners

Several police personnel were on Monday promoted to various ranks by Police Commissioner Francis Forbes.

Four Senior Superintendents were promoted to Assistant Commissioners. They are Senior Superintendents Linval Bailey, of Operations; Gilbert Kameka of Area One Headquarters, St. James; Perry Edwards, head of the Bureau of Special Investigations, and Delworth Heath of the Jamaica Constabulary's Staff College, Twickenham Park, south central St. Catherine.

Inspector Sonia James, of the Constabulary Communication Network, told The Gleaner yesterday that she had not received any official notice of the persons promoted, and therefore couldn't confirm the appointments.

But Gleaner sources said those promoted to the rank of Senior Superintendents included: Supt. Lloyd McDonald of Mobile Reserve, Supt. Leon Rose, in charge of the St. Andrew Central Division; Supt. L.K. Simpson of the Community Relations branch, and Supt. Paul Ferguson of the Staff College.

Among those promoted to Superintendents are: DSP Errol Samuels of the Fraud Squad in Kingston; DSP Claude Samuels, commanding officer for St. Andrew North; DSP Lorna Wilson-Morgan of the Corporate Strategy Unit; DSP Cynthia Cole-Thompson in charge of the Fingerprint Bureau at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Branch; and DSP Cecil Fletcher in charge of operations in Westmoreland.

Inspectors promoted to Deputy Superintendents include: Detective Inspector Michael Ellis, crime officer for the Kingston Eastern Division; Inspector Victor Hinds of Mobile Reserve; Inspector Ivanhoe Thompson in charge of Detention and Courts, Supreme Court; Detective Inspector Edsell Scott of the Crime Management Unit; Inspector Patricia White of the Staff College; Detective Inspector Dean Taylor of the St. Catherine North CIB, Inspector Vance Carter who is assigned to the Jamaican Consulate in Miami, and Inspector Oswald Ayre of the Kingston Eastern Division.

Among those promoted to Inspectors are: Sergeant Arthur Brown, Sgt. Warren Turner, and Woman Sergeant C.E. Barram, all from Mobile Reserve. Detective Sergeant Leslie Ashman of Area Five has also been promoted Detective Inspector. Promoted Inspectors are Sergeant Jerry Brown of the Motorised Patrol Divison and Sergeant Lascelles Walsh of Traffic Headquarters.
