Killing of bus driver reprehensible

THE EDITOR, Sir:
THE ACT of stabbing that 60-year-old bus driver because he "dared" to operate contrary to the desires of those protesting the tax increases is barbaric and shows the depths to which we as a society have sunk. That bus driver had a God-given and legal right to go about his lawful business.
Killing a colleague will not add positively to the demands being made by public transport drivers, but will only serve to weaken their cause. The message this sends is that if you are not with us, then you deserve to die. This is a dangerous precedent. What happened to that bus driver was a criminal act and has no justification whatsoever.
Though uncalled for, there are several other methods which could have been employed in halting the late bus driver's bus. Now, while the motor vehicle tax increases can be rolled back, the slain bus driver cannot be resurrected. Already, the new year has begun on a vicious note. Poor us.
