'Ninja Man' Sting fiasco
published: Saturday | January 11, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE HEADLINE in The Gleaner of Saturday, December 28, 2002, read: 'Ninja Man hands over gun to Adams', which seemed to be a fine gesture but...

Mr. Editor, if this piece of journalism is true in its entirety, then, in my opinion, many questions are left to be answered.

Let me hasten to say that I have no knowledge in jurisprudence but is it right for anyone in submitting his/her firearm to do so with it fully loaded?

And, is it lawful for Ninja Man to hand over his gun to a lawman or anyone for that matter at a function of that nature and the way in which it was done?

The written story covering this scenario was published for all and sundry to read and make their assessment regarding the kind of society in which he lived.

Again, if it is all true, this soap scene is outrageous with some frightening remarks on stage which also should demand urgent investigations.

Be it deejays, dons, celebrities or the high and mighty, Jamaica can no longer tolerate this kind of behaviour.

The security forces must now take positive action to dismiss in people, the perception that our justice system is only for certain people.

I am, etc.,
