SEBA UNITED remained in the hunt for a place in the Premier League's second round final yesterday, edging Rivoli 1-0 at Jarrett Park.
Denton Vidal kept up his consistent goalscoring form when he netted in the 75th minute, increasing his team's tally to 17 points in the second round, just two shy of joint second placed teams Harbour View and Waterhouse with a game against last placed Bull Bay in hand.
Seba are also sixth in the overall standings with 29 points.
At the Elletson-Wakeland Community Centre, Teofore Bennett notched a hat-trick and national Under-23 midfielder Fabian Dawkins got a brace as Village ran over Wadadah 6-1 on a soggy field.
Village led 4-1 at the half-time break and missed at least six easy chances in the second half. Wadadah, playing without both regular starting central defenders Durrent Brown and Nevardo Heath, both suspended, were no match.
Trelawny-based Village kept their slim hopes of a place in the second round final intact, moving to 15 points, level with Tivoli Gardens, who should be awarded points from Reno, who failed to show up for their game.
Bennett, who scored twice in Village's win over Rivoli last week, struck in the 35th, 54th and 69th minutes. Dawkins netted in the sixth and 19th minutes.
Derron Clarke got the other goal for Village in the 45th minute and Raphael Palmer's 13th minute goal had briefly tied the scores.
Wadadah have now conceded 54 goals this season and this was their second heaviest defeat after losing 1-9 to Harbour View earlier in the season and were giving up five goals or more for the fifth time this season.
