NATIONAL SPRINT hurdler Brigitte Foster had a fantastic 2002. She ended the year number one in the Caribbean and the world's number two ranked 100m hurdler behind the American Gail Devers.
Foster also established herself as Jamaica's premier hurdler among an outstanding group, which included Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lacena Golding Clarke.
Last year she broke the national record twice while registering Grand Prix victories in Brazil, Qatar, Seville, Britain and Berlin. She lowered the record to 12.49 seconds on July 16 at the Galan Meet in Sweden while placing second to Devers who won in 12.42.
In a string of top-class performances, Foster defeated the likes of America's ace Devers not once but three times.
The former St. Elizabeth Technical athlete never finished out of the top three in 18 races. She won six times, finished second on 10 occasions and placing third twice.
