Drought hits St Ann
published: Tuesday | January 14, 2003

CLAREMONT, St. Ann:

DROUGHT IS affecting certain areas of South West St. Ann. But, Councillor Derrick Frater of the Alexandria Division, while trying to solicit the assistance of the St. Ann Parish Council in alleviating the problem, found the Mayor in a mean mood.

This information emerged from the monthly meeting of the St. Ann Parish Council last Thursday.

Frater asked the Council, "How do you go about getting water for your citizens, who are suffering from drought." He added that the Parish Council has only one sprinkler and there is need for water from the Quick Response Unit.

Mayor Charles Tait did not take kindly to Councillor Frater's question and advised him to speak to the Superintendent of Roads and Works, George Hosang, who would prepare the documentation and, through Secretary Manager Dorothy Delgado, it would be sent to the relevant authority.

Mayor Tate said, "the world is a beautiful place, but we look at it in a bad light."
