PHILLIP Service, the former Trelawny allrounder, current national Under 15 coach and president of the newly formed Jamaica Coaches Association, is now also the West Indies Cricket Board's Development Officer in Jamaica.
Service is one of six Cricket Development officers - one for each first-class territory - appointed by the WICB's Development Unit headed by Dr. Michael Seepersaud.
A mathematics and physics teacher at William Knibb High School, Service has been seconded to the WICB for two years and assumed duties on January 1.
An advanced WICB coach, Service was one of the lecturers and coaches at the Shell Academy last year, and according to the Jamaica Cricket Association, he will report to the JCA's Chief Operations, Brian Breese, but will be responsible to the WICB's Chief Cricket Development Officer, Dr. Seepersaud.
As the WICB's Cricket Development Officer in Jamaica, Service, again according to the JCA, will deliver jointly with the JCA development initiatives in line with the goals and objectives of the JCA's development plan and ensures that it dovetails with that of the WICB.
He will also be required to review and monitor progress and implementation at regular intervals, to develop a network and maintain a database of coaches in Jamaica, and to establish a system of development for youth players by organising coaching clinics, remedial camps and selection trials with regional selectors.
