Harbour View on the prowl
published: Wednesday | January 15, 2003

By Paul A. Reid, Staff Reporter

WESTERN BUREAU:

HARBOUR VIEW'S chances for a place in the end of second round finals of the Wray And Nephew National Premier League (NPL) could hinge on the result of this afternoon's game against Wadadah at Jarrett Park, starting at 4:00pm.

The east Kingston club is in second place in the second round points standings with 19 and just ahead of Waterhouse on goal difference while Seba United are two points adrift and with a game in hand.

Hazard United lead the points standings with 22.

Harbour View's opponents have other things to worry about other than end of round finals as they are trying to retain their places in the league and are on 13 points overall and 11th in the 12-team league.

Former three-time champions Reno FC will return to action at home today when they host Rivoli at the Frome Sports Grounds, starting at 6:00pm.

Reno have been heavily fined by Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) after they failed to show up for their game against Tivoli Gardens on Sunday. The Westmoreland club was caught up in an internal squabble that was resolved during a meeting with the JFF on Monday.

Neither team is in the running for a place in the end of round finals with Reno on nine second round points and Rivoli on four. Reno have slipped back to the bottom of the overall points tables and are in eighth place, two places above the St Catherine based Rivoli.

At Jarrett Park, both teams will be at or near their strongest and despite being at opposite ends of the tables are confident of winning.

Harbour View will have the statistical advantage having won the last meeting between both clubs 9-1 but coach Donovan Hayles says this will mean nothing on the day.
