WESTERN BUREAU:
THE EMBATTLED Western Strikers Football Company Limited (WSFCL) that was earlier this week relieved of their duties of running National Premier League club Reno has taken over the running of two other clubs in Westmoreland.
Starting immediately WSFCL will assume the responsibility of running the affairs of Petersfield and Frome, both of whom are taking part in the Fred Smith Western Super Cup.
The initiative came almost at the last moment for Petersfield who were on the verge of pulling out of the competition due to financial and management problem affecting the club.
Copeland Bailey, secretary of the Western Confederation, said Petersfield had failed to live up to he obligations to the league and were having difficulties making it to their games.
Petersfield are at the bottom of the points tables after playing just six games, failing to win any. Frome are marginally better, winning one of their seven games and are in 11th place in the 12-team league.
Today Petersfield and Frome will meet at the Frome grounds in one of six games scheduled.
Another troubled team, Waterworks of Hanover, also appear to have found a lifeline and will resume playing as of this afternoon when they play away to Harmony at the Elleston-Wakeland Community Centre in Falmouth.
Also today leaders Invaders of Trelawny will play away to Galaxy of Hanover at the Green island High grounds, former National A-League team Mt Salem meets Russia at Jarrett Park, Altobar and Granville will meet in a St. James derby at Wyndham while Grange Hill meets Flames at Belle Isle.
