THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM a Jamaican-Canadian, and a medical doctor, trained in Jamaica. Yes, as another Jamaican living abroad I am often embarrassed by ill deeds done by some Jamaicans in different countries, but let's not forget the tremendous strides we have made in the same countries, adding significantly to their brain pool in medicine, technology, commerce, sports and many areas of their economy.
So if little Bermuda or England feel that they should "dis" all Jamaicans entering their shores, and treat us as prime crime suspects, we the many law-abiding Jamaicans have a right to protest. Jamaicans are known to be strong at home and abroad, and to say it clear, we are quite vocal in standing up for our rights.
I am strongly suggesting that we reciprocate by imposing visa requirements on all those countries that have started visa requirements on Jamaicans.
Jamaica is not a rug for everyone to wipe their feet on!
Let's not forget that barbarism was founded in Jamaica by the English and their buccaneers/"sea dogs", and it seems that this along with their slave trade have scarred us for life!
Proud to be Jamaican; Thank you.
