Why visas for Bermuda?
published: Thursday | January 23, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

SO IT begins, and what, pray tell, is Bermuda's reasons and excuses for imposing a visa requirement on visiting Jamaicans? As it has been pointed out, Jamaicans have a minimal role in Bermuda's crime statistics, very few Jamaicans occupy their prisons and I don't recall reading or hearing of any guns, drugs or 'Yardies'-related problems! So which foreign government are they trying to appease?

I am, etc.,
