EXCITING YOUNG Jamaican batsman Marlon Samuels will return to the island today from the West Indies' pre-World Cup training camp in Antigua to undergo an MRI scan on his knee.
The 22-year-old Samuels has been experiencing discomfort in his left knee which was surgically repaired in Sharjah in February last year during the West Indies series against Pakistan.
Dr Akshai Mansingh, a member of the West Indies Cricket Board Medical Panel, will conduct the examination.
Samuels topped the West Indies Test batting averages (80.33) for 2002 with 241 runs from three matches. During last year Samuels also scored 404 runs in 10 one-day international matches at an average of 44.88.
Left-handed batsmen Ryan Hinds of Barbados and Grenadian Devon Smith as well as Daren Ganga are the Cup squad reserves.
