Those JPSCo bills
published: Wednesday | January 29, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE always paid my light bills on time but often wonder at the cavalier manner in which the JPSCo. Ltd. dispenses its repletion of dishonesty. In November 2002 I paid my bill on the 29th although the advice was that the 2nd of December was the due date. On the 19th of December another bill arrived with due date for payment shown as the 20th. I paid accordingly. The 8th of January 2003 appeared and its haughty companion was a bill due by the 15th of the month.

I remember the day, just a few years ago when my bill came with an attachment advising that the company owed me a tidy sum of money. I paid the bill minus this sum. Soon after, a message was peremptorily delivered - if the defects were not made good immediately my supply of electricity would be cut off.

I am, etc.,
