Dog poisoning is a crime

THE EDITOR, Sir:
RESIDENTS OF Chudleigh, Fine Grass, Walderston and surrounding districts, have for years suffered at the hands of unscrupulous persons who feel that it is their right to poison dogs and cats. This is usually done by spraying weed killer, (eg. grammoxone) on meat and feeding it to unsuspecting pets. This causes a slow and agonising death for the animal; usually taking about three days.
Today I have lost two more dogs, bringing the death toll to well over two dozen in the past 15 years. Deliberately poisoning an animal is against the law. If you can prove that someone has poisoned your pet, you may press charges. It is a crime.
Animals do have rights. For more information call the Jam-aica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) or report the poisoning to the police in your area.
