Twickenham Park Housing project to be ready soon
published: Wednesday | January 29, 2003

THE TWICKENHAM Park Housing Development, currently under construction near the Jose Marti High School in Catherine, should be ready for delivery by next week.

Senior Director for Technical Services at the National Housing Trust (NHT), Patrick Brown says construction of the infrastructure, including roads, was approximately 75 per cent complete, and full completion was scheduled for May 2003.

He pointed out that negotiations were currently taking place to determine the total number of units that would be built, including two-bedroom and start-a-unit houses. The original proposal was for serviced lots, studios and two-bedroom units.

In a recent interview with the JIS, Mr. Brown pointed out that construction of the sewerage treatment plant was awaiting approval from the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA).

Ground was broken for the housing scheme by Prime Minister P.J. Patterson in July 2001.

The housing development, which is being undertaken on 20 hectares of land, is a joint venture of the NHT, the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions (JUTC) and the Jamaica Civil Service Housing Company Limited (JCSHC).
