Russell, Johnson in spotlight

TOP JAMAICAN players Ryan Russell and Damar Johnson will play first round matches this morning in the Capital and Credit Jamaica Futures Tennis Championships at Tryall Club.

Russell takes on Swede Jon Hedman while Johnson will challenge second-seeded Andres Dellatorre of Argentina.

Yesterday, there was full day of activity despite bad weather conditions.

Jamaica's Dustin Brown lost to Darko Madjarovski of Yugoslavia 6-1, 7-5.

In other results, Juan Pablo Guzman of Argentina defeated American Kiantki Thomas 6-3, 6-2; Frenchman Benjamin Cassaigne stopped compatriot Dimitri Lorin 7-5, 3-0 (ret.), Russian Dmito Sitak stopped Brazil's Bruno Soares 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 while Jose DeArmas of Venezuela beat Amadeus Fulford Jones of Great Britain 6-2, 6-2.
