One good cop
published: Tuesday | February 4, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

PLEASE GRANT me space to commend the police officer who was driving a police car with licence number 20 1685 on January 22, 2003, at approximately 4:33 p.m. in the vicinity of Majestic Gardens.

On reaching the intersection of Majestic Gardens (approaching Three Miles), the officer turned his four-ways light on and indicated to the other motorists to stop. He came to a standstill and allowed two children to cross from the right hand side of the road and an elderly man and a young man to cross to the right of the road. The elderly man was so elated, he wanted to shake the hand of the officer but he was unable to do so due to the build-up of traffic.

I think our police officers are beginning to do a much better job and they should be commended.

Sir, congratulations! Keep up the good work in protecting and serving the nation. Jamaica needs much more persons like you, who not only protects people from crime and violence but also sees to their safety, even if it is as simple as crossing the road.

I am, etc.,
