THE COLLEGE of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) officially launched its Bachelor of Technology programme at the institution last Thursday. The course, which began in 2001, provides training in areas such as Agri Production and Food System Management as well as Environmental Protection .
The programme is being implemented in association with the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Canada and funding is provided by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
State Minister in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture, Dr. Donald Rhodd, congratulated both CASE and Nova Scotia for creating the programme. He added that the training offered from the programme will advance Jamaica's agricultural sector and aid the overall developmental process in the country.
In the main address, First Secretary of CIDA, Vivian Monteith, said that the programme was a testimony to the close relationship between Jamaica and Canada. He also encouraged the students to make the best use of the opportunities now available through the training offered under the programme.
One hundred and twenty students are pursuing the programme of which 30 will be graduating in November of this year.
