CONSISTENT WITH its commitment to constantly improve its services, Zim Israel Navigation Company recently commenced direct calls at the ports of Ningbo in China, and Colon in Panama. The service started with "Zim Mediterranean" last month.
The port of Ningbo in East China is a growing port serving the industrial and agricultural centres in the Yangtze River delta, while Panama's advantage is its status as a major distribution centre for goods (origination mainly from the Far East) to the whole Caribbean basin.
The new route is as follows:
WEST BOUND
Haifa, Piraeus, Livorno, Barcelona, Halifax, New York, Savannah, Kingston, Los Angeles, Ningbo, Shekou
EAST BOUND
Hong Kong, Keelung, Pusan, Osaka, Yokohama, Los Angeles, Colon, Kingston. Savannah, New York, Halifax, Barcelona, Haifa
Zim Container Service (known as ZCS) is Zim's first global service operating 15 modern ships with 3,800-4900 Twenty Equivalent Units capacity each, enabling it to provide fast, reliable weekly fixed day service in all of its ports of call ZCS operates between Haifa, its homeport, and the Far East, via the Mediterranean and North American ports, covering four of the major international trading areas that serve global markets.
The round trip takes 105 days and extends over 35,200 miles. An extensive feeding system connects additional ports to the main route.
