KALLICHARAN GIBBS, 27, a computer programmer at The Gleaner Company was found dead about 3:00 p.m. yesterday in his apartment in the Constant Spring Gardens area of St. Andrew.
Gibbs had been working with The Gleaner for just over two years. His body was discovered by his mother and 19-year-old brother.
While there were no visible indications of foul play, the Constant Spring Police say they were not "ruling out anything at this time".
According to The Gleaner's technology manager, Errol Knight, who went to the scene yesterday afternoon, "the doors of his apartment were locked from the inside. The room was in a disorderly fashion, unlike the rest of the apartment, and the TV was down on its face but it doesn't seem immediately that there was any foul play".
Mr. Knight explained that Gibbs did not show up for work on Monday and checks were made via telephone to his house and cell number but there was no answer.
One of his relatives called the company on Monday to check if he was at work and again yesterday they checked if he had left any keys to his apartment. When they found out that there were none, Gibbs' mother and his younger brother, who last spoke to him on Saturday, went to the house and gained entry by cutting open the grill and found him dead, said Mr. Knight.
"I am really shaken up. The rest of the department is really distraught. He was quite a jovial fellow. He was someone who was detailed, meticulous and analytical in his work. He was quite a lively person. He is really a person who will be missed," Mr. Knight said.
