THE EDITOR: Sir
I READ with interest a letter from Prime Minister P.J. Patterson in your issue of February 1, 2003 responding to your editorial - "A Dangerous Precedent."
I am obliged to our esteemed and Most Honourable Prime Minister for his timely intervention. There were several grey areas in the Blythe Affair but having read the Prime Minister's pellucid and 'well endowed' epistle the whole matter is now absolutely clear. The following facts are incontrovertible -
There was an allegation of Blythe's indiscretion
There was the Angus Commission
There was the Rattray exculpation
There is now the Patterson obfuscation
I am moved to quote from "The Rubayyat of Omar Khayyam" -
"Myself when young did eagerly frequent
Doctor and Saint, and heard great Argument
About it and about; but evermore
Came out by the same door as in I went."
Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister.
I am etc.,
