From the lips of a child

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM nine years old and I don't understand this. Why doesn't the Honourable P.J. Patterson give teachers a raise? This is foolishness because Honourable P.J. Patterson was a child too and he got most of his knowledge from the teachers. Children are the men and women of tomorrow. If his teachers had to go on strike then, he couldn't reach this far. If he were a teacher he would want a raise too. If he is collecting so much taxes what is he doing with it all? He could help to make up their salaries. I don't see what is so hard in that. He's giving it to others.
So I don't blame the teachers for what they are doing. They must try their best and the Prime Minister still thinks they can work harder, but still no increase of money? That's not fair. When people were voting, politicians were saying how Jamaica was going to be better, they said this and they said that but their words were not true. So the teachers will teach a lesson, the same way that they got lessons at school. Not spanking or any other type of lesson. Teachers should get a better raise.
