New time for Kingston Wharves EGM
published: Tuesday | February 18, 2003

THE EXTRAORDINARY meeting of shareholders of Kingston Wharves has been put off until 11:30 a.m. today so that Chief Justice Lensley Wolfe can make a ruling as to whether the trustees of the Kingston Port Workers Superannuation Fund can vote the shares held in Kingston Wharves.

The meeting was originally scheduled for 10 a.m.

Jamaica Fruit & Shipping, a shareholder in Kingston Wharves, will be free to vote at the meeting.

Grace, Kennedy & Company had sought court orders to bar certain shareholders in Kingston wharves from voting today. The shareholders against which the ban was being sought were Jamaica Fruit & Shipping, the trustees and the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ).

The Chief Justice, after hearing legal arguments in chambers at the Supreme Court yesterday, dismissed the motion brought by Grace, Kennedy against Jamaica Fruit & Shipping. The application in relation to the Shipping Association has not yet been heard. A ruling will be made today in relation to the order sought in respect of the trustees.
