Support the teachers
published: Wednesday | February 19, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir,

I WRITE in support of the honourable, deserving, hard-working teachers of Jamaica who have finally mustered the guts to stand up to the government for a decent pay increase. They are much more deserving than the parliamentarians.

Over the years teachers have been treated to crumbs from the table while others walk away with the lion's share.

I encourage you teachers, it is time to look out for your own interest and that of your families. Others have been doing well taking care of themselves; the children will survive, maybe you won't. As your president has stated, "your cause is just", stand up for your rights.

I am etc.,
