SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine
FIFTY-EIGHT-YEAR-OLD sports co-ordinator and community officer, Clement 'Sepie' Davis is the People's Progressive Party (PPP) candidate for the upcoming Local Government election for the Linstead Division in North West St. Catherine.
Davis's candidacy was endorsed by the party's National Executive Council on Thursday, February 20. He is the first Local Government candidate to be announced by the party for the upcoming polls due by the end of March.
Mr. Davis told The Gleaner that he has the edge over his rivals in the division due to his deep community involvement over the past 30 years. "I am a Garvyite and I am a committed social worker committed to social development," the former social development officer said.
Mr. Davis said his many achievements in the parish and the community will work for him when the people go to the polls.
The PPP president Miguel Lawn said the right man under the Marcus Garvey and the People's Progressive Party banner has been endorsed for the Linstead Division and there is no doubt that he will be the man to serve the people in that division from the St. Catherine Parish Council.
Party vice-president Moses Henriques said there could be more candidate endorsements for the party at their press conference on Thursday, February 27 at the party's Church Street office.
