Victim of KSAC parking racket
published: Saturday | March 1, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:
RECENTLY I did an act of kindness which took me into downtown Kingston. Since I was in that area I decided to withdraw some money from my account there. I parked in front of two cars and there were no visible 'no parking' signs neither were there yellow lines.

On my return, to my dismay the vehicles were gone. I realised my folly at not being able to mind-read the KSAC's intent at collecting quick cash by impounding vehicles.

On entering the pound, I was vocalising my anger, when a policewoman and a policeman empathised with me; they, too, had their vehicles impounded. I however am not impressed. The public is being 'taken' by these daylight robbers who are hijacking our vehicles whereas the broken drains of downtown Kingston will eventually cause their demise. I intend to close the account there so that I will not have to ever become a victim of the parking racket again. KSAC, please use the public funds for parking meters and stop this daylight robbery with the wrecker trucks.

I am, etc.,
