Busy days ahead for the Boyz
published: Monday | March 3, 2003

THE JAMAICA Football Federation (JFF) indicated their seriousness about providing the national team with at least one friendly match each month when they revealed on Saturday that they have confirmed no less than seven matches for the Reggae Boyz.

Those friendlies will see the Boyz heading to neighbours Cuba, the motherland Africa, United Kingdom and the United States. This is according to the JFF president Captain Horace Burrell who spoke with The Gleaner on Saturday.

On March 11 and 13 Jamaica will take on Cuba in that country before heading back to Jamaica to take on Barbados at the National Stadium on March 23 in a "grudge match" at 6:00 p.m.

A friendly against South Africa which was announced last month, has been confirmed for April 30 in Cape Town. That game is expected to be played between the strongest teams from both countries as it will be played on a FIFA date.

Following that the Boyz have a date with English Premier League team Birmingham City on May 14. The Boyz then return to Jamaica the following day before heading off to Fort Lauderdale for game against Haiti on May 17.

The Boyz will have a friendly against Nigeria either in London or in Jamaica on May 24 or 25.
