By Nashauna Dummond, Staff ReporterAFTER A one-year hiatus, the third edition of 'Touch of France', was launched at the Hilton Kingston Hotel yesterday.
This exhibition of French products, services and culture is being staged by the Alliance Francaise in collaboration with the cultural services and the Trade Commission of the French Embassy.
This year's event, originally scheduled for October of 2002, was postponed because of the general elections. The exhibition will run from March 17-19, this year.
President of Alliance Francaise de la Jamaique, Pierre Lemaire, said a 'Touch of France 2003' was more than an exhibiton, it was a place where French culture and business people could meet "and something can develop."
French Ambassador Pierre-Antoine Berniard noted that the event was a very special occasion, "to highlight the friendly relations and the growing co-operation between France and Jamaica."
Some newcomers to the exhibition include Bouygues Travaux Publics, the contractors of Highway 2000, and Sogea/Satom who have built a water treatment plant in Negril and Great River.
The exhibition falls within the week of The International Week of the French Speaking world. This is a week of activities which celebrates French culture in countries around the world where French is either one of or the official language.
