WORK ON the new Indoor Court Facility at the National Stadium Complex is progressing well.

Canadian workmen attached to Trumbley & Hampton who were awarded the contract for the project and a team of locals are working in tandem to meet the May deadline, two months before Jamaica hosts the World Netball Championships there.

"There is still a lot left to be done but we are right on schedule with the work," a local contractor said last Friday.

The roofing on the Butler pre-engineered building has been completed and the supporting walls 70 per cent finished.

Casting of the floor, the contractor explained will be done in the coming week.

The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) meanwhile has also given its assurance that the facility will be ready on time for the event that will be held from July 11-20.

According to the UDC's deputy general manager of the technical services division, Christopher Shaw, "work is progressing steadily on the completion of changing room facilities and seating for the new arena.

Once this is done, work will begin on the construction of the roadway which will link the new arena to the rest of the stadium complex."

Yesterday, the workmen were busy installing air-conditioning ducts and performing a host of other tasks.
