published: Tuesday | March 25, 2003

AN ACCIDENT which occurred along the Red Hassell main road in Portland on Friday has left an elderly woman dead and her husband hospitalised.

The dead woman has been identified as 74-year-old Catherine Anderson, while injured is 78-year-old Robert Anderson, both of Mount Oakey Road, Port Antonio, Portland.

The Andersons were travelling on a pedal cycle about noon when, on reaching a section of the Red Hassell main road, they were involved in a collision with an International truck registered CD4010, which was travelling towards Port Antonio.

The two sustained multiple injuries and were taken to the Port Antonio Hospital, where Mrs. Anderson was pronounced dead and her husband admitted.

The Port Antonio police are investigating.
