Waiting for implementation
published: Wednesday | March 26, 2003

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE HEADLINE "US Embassy raps latecomers" - Tuesday, March 25, 2003, indicates to me that there may be some communication gap between the policy makers and how the said policy is implemented.

I received a 9:30 a.m. appointment and visited the US embassy in February for a non-immigrant visa. I arrived on time and had my documents inspected. They were in order. I was instructed to sit at the back of the waiting room by a security officer. I complied, even though I declared that I had an appointment.

However, my interview did not take place until 1:00 p.m. I am a bit confused as to how this news item could have come about given my personal experience.

I am, etc.,
