AK 47 rifle found in Black River
published: Wednesday | March 26, 2003

BLACK RIVER:

AN AK 47 Assault rifle with the serial number erased and an empty magazine were found at premises on Brigade Street in Black River. A search by the Black River police, at a restaurant and bar owned by Junior Hamilton otherwise called "King Lion," of Peacock Heights, also turned up 16 parcels of ganja found in an office occupied by Hamilton.

A female who was also in his company, a higgler named Joy Maxwell of Flamstead Gardens, St. James was also arrested and charged with Hamilton for illegal possession of firearm and dealing in ganja. Both persons are in police custody pending further investigation.

This is the third AK 47 Assault rifle to be seized in Black River by the police. Over six years ago, Challice Bryan of Parottee was killed in a shoot out with the police and an AK 47 Assault rifle was taken from his body. Approximately 18 months ago, another AK 47 rifle was taken from a boat docked at the Black River wharf and the occupant arrested, charged and was sentenced to prison.
