THE EDITOR, Sir:
IN JAMAICA today, it is not very often we are able to observe groups of young people engaged in activities that positive. On Saturday, March 23, 2003, the Webster Memorial Boys Brigade Company hosted a Bands Festival on the church compound. It was a warm yet pleasant evening when over 500 young people 80 per cent young men and about 200 adults gathered to witness the event. The Alpha Band in their usual dignified manner open the evening's activities. They were superb as they entertained the crowd with their brass sound. Well done Alpha!
The crowd came alive as the Webster Memorial and Trinity Moravian Boys Brigade Marching bands and the Kingston College drum corps took the stage. The movements were scintillating and grabbed the attention of all. It was pleasing to observe the young and the mature shaking their legs to soothing music.
An event such as this is truly worthy of commendation because it allowed young people to display discipline and decency as Jamaicans aspiring for quality lifestyles in a country that continues to present doom and gloom.
Certainly, I am delighted at the efforts of the Captain, Mr. Val Parkinson, Mr. Al Adams of the men's fellowship at the church, Ms. Beryl Ennis and their team of players.
Webster Memorial, keep facilitating the growth and development of our young people!
